A Plain Good Time

Nothing screams a “fun day at the beach!” like a day at the beach!

January 18th marked International Student Club’s Beach Day celebration with the South-Korean exchange students at White Plains Beach (10:00 am to 2:00 pm). After a few hectic weeks of planning and preparation, we took this day as a chance to unwind and collect ourselves. Upon arrival, our officers and volunteers got to work rolling in the materials that would allow us to get the event grinding on its gears and occupy the space allotted. The primary goal being that everyone has a good time and makes lasting memories. Among the festivities, there were card games people brought to share, good music to dance to, and bodyboards for those who wanted to enjoy the water.

Lunch consisted of larger-than-life portions of meat, rice, noodles, lumpia, and more. Some people even marinated and seasoned the steak local-style overnight before we sizziled it into perfection. Once the food was ready to serve, everyone lined up for their portions and dug into it with enthusiasm.

As it turns out, low tides, sunny skies, along with great company was more than enough to restore everyone’s energy. Having our new club members and volunteers on board fro this really made an impact in creating a calm atmosphere where the international students felt welcome to socialize openly with local students.
